At its center is the Plaza Zaragoza, with a pergola for shows. In front of the plaza are the ornate Cathedral of the Assumption and the neoclassical Government Palace, which houses murals depicting the history of Sonora. To the south is the zoo and the botanical garden of the Sonora Ecological Center, which exhibits native species of flora and fauna.
