Peggy Williams-Smith is the president and CEO of Visit Milwaukee and the first woman to lead the organization. A Milwaukee native with extensive experience in the hospitality industry, she has helped transform Milwaukee’s national profile since joining the organization in 2019, spearheading the launch of the city’s first new destination brand in more than 20 years.
Under her leadership, Visit Milwaukee has secured major conventions, hosted the 2024 Republican National Convention, and helped position Milwaukee as an official Michelin Guide destination, elevating the city’s culinary reputation on the international stage. Her team has also spearheaded nationwide marketing partnerships, including campaigns with *Wheel of Fortune*, which introduced Milwaukee to millions of people.
Before joining Visit Milwaukee, she worked for 22 years at Marcus Hotels & Resorts. Williams-Smith is a dedicated mentor and community leader; she received the 2025 Imprint Award from Professional Dimensions and has been recognized as one of Milwaukee’s most influential figures for 10 consecutive years.
