Hugo Oliveras is a professional race car driver who has enjoyed many achievements and successes in both his professional and personal life. Since he began kart racing as a child, he rose to the top of his category, eventually becoming National Champion and, later, Latin American Champion. He competed in renowned races around the world, which led him to join the NASCAR Mexico Series in 2008. From then on, he racked up victories in the Super Copa Telcel, NASCAR Mexico, and Mercedes-Benz Cup, and participated in virtual tournaments such as NASCAR Mexico iRacing, Super Copa Red Cola eSports, and Monster’s “2020 Grand Prix of Champions.”
The road to success is not an easy one to travel, but Hugo Oliveras has had to overcome more adversity than most. In 2019, he suffered two strokes as a result of a cavernoma in his brainstem. His health and motor functions were compromised. Nevertheless, he did not give up; he worked tirelessly alongside his family and a medical team to recover and return to the track. In 2021, he suffered a third stroke, which currently requires ongoing treatment and therapy. However, he knows this is not the end of his story. For the 2021 season, he will step down from the Mercedes-Benz Pro1 Super Cup and NASCAR to focus on his health and share his experience—a testament to resilience, strength, and the importance of living in the moment with gratitude and a positive attitude.
