
Eduardo is the owner of Global Meetings and Tourism Specialists, LLC based in the State of Virginia in the United States specializing in consulting, training and research in the meetings and tourism industries. Through his company, he also serves as Regional Director for Latin America for Maritz. Eduardo Chaillo Ortiz served as Executive Director of Meetings Tourism, Regional Director for the U.S. and Canada, as well as General Director of Tianguis Turístico within the Consejo de Promoción Turistica de México. He was also General Director of Tourism for the State of Zacatecas, Mexico. In terms of leadership positions in international organizations, Eduardo was a member of the Board of Directors of ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), Chairman of the International Committee of the CMP, member of the Board of the PCMA Foundation, of the MPI Mexico Chapter, of the Board of Directors of DMAI (Destination Marketing Association International) and Chairman of the APEX Commission of the Events Industry Council. He is a member of the Board of Directors of COCAL and is a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe. Eduardo holds a Bachelor's Degree in Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) as well as the CMP (Certified Meeting Professional), the most recognized global certification in the field of event management, the CMM (Certification in Meeting Management) awarded by MPI (Meeting Professionals International). A few years ago, he achieved the CASE (Certified Association Sales Executive) credential awarded by PCMA, specialized in the pharmaceutical events segment with the HMCC (Healthcare Meetings Compliance Certificate), obtained his DES (Digital Event Strategist) certification and finally the CITP (Certified Incentive Travel Professional) from SITE (Society of Incentive Travel Excellence). Eduardo received the Power and Profile Award from the Joint Meetings Industry Council in 2011 and in 2013, he was inducted into the Hall of Leaders group of the CIC (Convention Industry Council). He received the Fiexpo Latino 2015 award as the most outstanding Latin American personality in the Meetings Industry. In 2016, MPI Mexico gave him the Heel Award as a leader for excellence. Finally, in May 2019, he received the "Lifetime Achievement" at the PCMA Foundation's Visionary Awards. Eduardo has been married for 32 years and has three daughters: Faby, 30, Dany, 28, and Regina, 21.
