
Carolina Chavez, a dedicated public servant and lifelong resident of the Cali-Baja region, is the first Latina and binational council member to represent Chula Vista District 1. She has a deep dedication to cross-border cooperation and community development, bringing years of experience. With more than 20 years of extensive experience in promoting binational collaboration, particularly in business, economic and health policy. He also served two consecutive terms as chair of the International Business Association Committee of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and is Chula Vista's current representative on the South County Economic Development Committee, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and the San Diego Association of Government (SANDAG) board of directors. Chavez plays a key role in shaping regional international relations. His community service is evident through his active involvement in various non-profit efforts, from supporting at-risk youth and advocating for educational opportunities through scholarships, to coordinating food and clothing donations and facilitating medical access and assistance in vulnerable communities. Seeking to actively collaborate with local, state and federal governments on both sides of the border, she is a strong advocate for expanding access to public health care in the binational region. From her journalism roots to her current position, her leadership and vision have consistently driven positive change, cultivating a thriving community in this dynamic and diverse region.
