León de los Aldama received its current name in 1830 in honor of the insurgents Juan Aldama and Ignacio Aldama, who participated in the Mexican War of Independence.
To speak of León is to speak of culture, gastronomy, adventure and culture. It is the site of major world-class sports competitions and the famous Balloon Fair, which brings together more than 120,000 people in a single day.
